Crafted: Objects in Flux

Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, 2015

Role: Exhibition Designer

Team: Curator, Emily Zilber; Graphic Designer, Nick Pioggia

This exhibition examined contemporary craft through the work of more than 30 artists who merge traditional techniques with cutting-edge concepts and technologies. Spanning a wide range of materials and practices, the show highlighted the evolving dialogue between handwork and innovation.

The platform. To guide visitors' path through the gallery's three adjoining spaces, I introduced a continuous platform that moved through and connected the rooms, its sharp, angular geometry directed circulation, framed key works, and highlighted relationships between pieces—most notably at the introductory panel, where it created a defining focal moment.

The platform itself echoed the exhibition’s central theme. Built from painted wood using traditional construction methods, it was shaped with crisp, machine-like angles and a razor-thin edge, embodying the same blend of craft and contemporary precision found throughout the show.
