Crafted: Objects in Flux

Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, 2015

I designed this project in collaboration with curator Emily Zilber and graphic designer Nick Pioggia.

The exhibition examined contemporary craft through the work of more than 30 artists who merge traditional techniques with cutting-edge concepts and technologies. Spanning a wide range of materials and practices, the show highlighted the evolving dialogue between handwork and innovation.

To guide the visitor’s path and structure the content, I introduced a continuous platform that moved through and around the gallery’s three adjoining spaces. Its sharp, angular geometry allowed me to direct circulation, frame key works, highlight relationships, and create focal moments—most notably at the introductory panel.

The platform itself echoed the exhibition’s central theme. Built from painted wood using traditional construction methods, it was shaped with crisp, machine-like angles and a razor-thin edge, blending craft and contemporary precision.
