This exhibition paired four major works by Picasso, loaned from the Fondation Beyeler in Basel, Switzerland, with works of similar subject matter from the MFA's own collection, offering an opportunity to examine Picasso's prolific nature and his method of exploring the same forms in multiple ways across various stages of his career.

Design Approach. To support this concept, I introduced five freestanding walls that wrapped around and projected from—but never touched—the gallery's perimeter, each framing a single pairing. The location, shape, and positioning of the walls echoed the shape-shifting nature of Picasso's explorations, setting apart each pairing as its own individual study. Labels were positioned off to the side, encouraging uninterrupted visual comparison between the paired works.
